Debbie Palen
Debbie’s interest in books and art began at an early age, when she faithfully copied tiny illustrations from her grandmother’s old nursery rhyme books. She currently resides in Cleveland with her boyfriend and two cats. Her illustrations have appeared in many picture books, as well as on reading posters, art festival posters, greeting cards, sidewalks, and in magazines in doctors’ waiting rooms.
Her work has been recognized by Print, 3x3, How, Mom’s Choice Awards, Highlights, and The Educational Press Association.
She loves creating expressive, emotional characters and working with the beauty and unique personality traits of animals. When not illustrating, she can be found exploring bookstores, doing yoga, dancing, or hiking in the woods.
