Julie Segal Walters
Julie Segal Walters is a children’s book writer and the restaurant reviewer for the Falls Church Times. Before Julie began writing picture books, she was a First Amendment attorney and public policy advocate in Washington, D.C. During that time, she regularly wrote articles that were published in legal and other academic journals and books.
Her debut picture book will be released by Simon & Schuster and illustrated by Brian Briggs with an expected publication date of Spring 2017.
Julie is fluent in Spanish, has directed international democracy development programs in Kosovo, taught courses as an Adjunct Professor at American University (Washington, D.C.), and has appeared as a commentator on religion and politics on programs such as NPR’s “Talk of the Nation,” Court TV, C-Span, and Univision. Julie also attended culinary school and is an adviser to the Falls Church city school food program. She’s also an active member of SCBWI and 12x12.
