Melika Saeeda
Melika Saeeda is an Iranian-Canadian artist who began painting at the Art University of Tehran, Iran. Her style draws upon elements of traditional Persian painting with its flatness and unique composition. Melika earned her Master’s degree in Graphic Design from Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran. She has illustrated more than 20 children’s books in Turkey and Iran. Her works have been shown in exhibitions and book fairs in Iran, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and Canada. In Toronto, where she lives with her family, Melika is involved in the local art scene working with “StART” (Street Art Toronto), CBC Music Canada, the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, and Bell Box Murals Canada. Her portfolio received the SCBWI Glass Slipper Award in 2019, in Montreal, and the Tomie DePaola SCBWI Impact Legacy in 2022.
