Shelley Rotner

Booklist has called author/photographer Shelley Rotner’s work, “clear and well-composed…crisp, joyful.” Shelley has published over thirty picture books including Every Season, The Buzz on Bees, I’m Adopted!, and Shades of People, of which School Library Journal said, “filled with wonderful photographs of happy, smiling, inquisitive, trusting, and adorable children. . . . A good introduction to racial and ethnic diversity.” Her recent title, Dogs Don’t Brush Their Teeth, a collaboration with author-illustrator Diane deGroat, was a Time Magazine Top Ten Children’s Book. Other honors include a Reading Rainbow Book, NSTA Outstanding Science Books for Children, Green Earth Book Award, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Best Book, and the John Burroughs List of Nature Books for Young Readers. Shades of People was recommended by both the American Library Association and Oprah’s Book Club.
