Toni Guy

In 1985 Toni committed social suicide by wearing a candy cane-striped, Gone with the Wind ball gown and veiled bonnet to eighth grade graduation. This was one of many disastrous attempts to “be cool” during her first years in America. But these “all photos burned” moments and her eccentric New Zealand family became her spark for writing children’s literature.

For ten years Toni worked as a copywriter, trend forecaster and product designer for Caboodles, a multimillion-dollar tween and teen brand of mass-market products sold worldwide. She holds a BA in English Literature from UCSB and studied French literature and film in Paris. She is an active member of SCBWI, A Room of Her Own, AWP, and WOWW Women Who Write.

Originally from New Zealand, Toni moved to America at the age of twelve. She now resides in Ventura, CA with her husband and three children. She loves to travel, read books in the bathtub and make people shoot milk from their noses.
