Anya Kopotilova is a Russia-born, Colorado-based author and illustrator. Anya started as a translator, graduating with a degree in French from her regional university in Russia. 10 years later, with the help of her children, she realized she had stories to tell. She started drawing and a few years later she began to also write. Anya loves creating stories with a lot of humor and heart featuring playful animal and human characters. Her favorite materials to work with are…everything she can get her hands on (though she has yet to try the oil paints)! She never passes on an opportunity to play and discover something new. Nothing excites her more than a trip to an art supply store or a library. Anya has a special place in her heart for folktales, folk crafts, and foreign languages. Anya lives in a Denver suburb with her husband, two almost-grown children, and two rascal cats.
