Betsy Franco has over eighty published titles to her credit, including Counting in Dog Years and Other Sassy Math Poems (Candlewick), an NCTE Notable Poetry Book and a Mathical Award winner. Her YA novel, Metamorphosis, Junior Year (Candlewick) was the basis for a sold-out play and a documentary by her son, actor James Franco. Kirkus said of the novel, “Ovid captures it all in his private notebook filled with prose entries in realistic teenspeak and beautifully crafted poems. Betsy is also the author of Parenting Magazine Book Pick Birdsongs; the Children’s Book of the Month Club selection Mathematickles!; and editor of You Hear Me? poems and writings by teenage boys, an ALA Best Book for Young Adults. She has received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and School Library Journal. Her novel Naked, was optioned for film, and she wrote the screenplay for Thena, a film in postproduction.
