Doreen traded snow angels for sandcastles, moving from New York to South Florida with her family when she was just four years old. Her love affair with picture books began decades ago when her oldest of three children was born, and continues to this day. As a journalist and editor for community newspapers, Doreen looks for the heart in every story and hopes to inform and inspire her readers. In 2022, she was awarded a scholarship for PJ Library’s Emerging Authors. In 2023, she was the recipient of Florida SCBWI’s Mirrors and Windows scholarship. Doreen’s debut picture book GOLEM LOVES LATKES comes out in October 2025 with Intergalactic Afikoman. Her next picture book, A PLACE TO PRAY, is scheduled to release in spring 2026 with Worthy Kids/Hachette Book Group. When she’s not writing or revising, Doreen enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and her two fur babies.
