Elizabeth Suneby

After a career in marketing—where she reviewed others’ writing while quietly wanting to write herself—Liz made the leap to a full-time writing career, creating everything from websites and magazine articles to children’s books.

Liz is the author of several fiction and nonfiction titles, including board, activity, and picture books, as well as books for preteens. Her work has earned recognition, including the Social Justice Literature Award, Bank Street Children’s Best Books of the Year, and the AAAS/Subaru Award for Excellence in Science Books.

She is passionate about helping children recognize our shared humanity and is inspired by Jewish values of repairing the world, kindness, and justice. Five of her books have been distributed by PJ Library, and she participated in PJ Library’s Author Israel Adventure. With a BA in American Civilization, Liz loves researching nonfiction and historical fiction. Beyond writing, Liz volunteers with refugees and the Prison Book Program. She also enjoys pottery, exercise, travel, and desserts. A Brown University graduate, she stays connected to her alma mater by writing for the university. Liz lives outside Boston with her husband and is glad that her two young adult children live nearby.

Elizabeth is represented by Eve Adler.
