Masha D’yans

Biography

Armenian-American, award-winning artist and author Masha D’yans studied at New York’s Cooper Union before launching a flourishing career in graphic design, making her greeting card debut at Barneys and Neiman Marcus. Today her cards can be found in specialty lines developed for Target, MOMA, and Barnes & Noble.

As a children’s book illustrator, Masha illustrated Polka-Dot Parade about fashion-photographer Bill Cunningham of which Kirkus, in a starred review, wrote, “D’yans’ scintillating watercolors, depicting Bill in action on the street or his subjects …perfectly match Cunningham’s unassuming edginess.” She is also the illustrator of Flower Talk, a playful exploration of how plants communicate, and authored and illustrated the pop-up wonder Razzle Dazzle Ruby (Scholastic) and the gorgeous coloring book Color Me Enchanted (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt). A Garden In Your Belly (Millbrook), Masha’s picture book about the amazing microscopic creatures living in the human body, received the Children’s Literature Council of Southern California’s Exemplary Work of Creative Non-Fiction award. Booklist called it, “vividly colored, wildly imaginative. . . a lively introduction to a vital element in human health.”

Masha is represented by Abigail Samoun.
