School Library Journal’s Elizabeth Bird called Betsy Franco and Michael’s A Curious Collection of Cats, “[a] poetry book destined for every library collection.” The book received a Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Honor and was an NCTE Notable and an ABC Best Book for Children. The two follow-up, A Dazzling Display of Dogs and A Spectacular Collection of Sea Critters received rave reviews including a star from School Library Journal. Michael lives in Oakland, California with his husband, Andrew, and their dog Blue, and teaches at the California College of the Arts where he is the Chair of Illustration.
