Noa Mishkin

Biography

Noa Mishkin is an illustrator and comic artist from Jerusalem, Israel. A graduate of the Visual communications department at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, her first graphic novel  As a Burning Flame: the Dream of Regina Jonas is an exploration of the life of the first female rabbi to be ordained in modern Judaism. In addition, she has illustrated Trees Waiting for Rain (Am Oved) and the upcoming Bless the World (PJ Library). Noa works in traditional media, and prepares for all projects with a lot of research, observation and collecting of references. She loves to draw plants and animals, architecture, and small moments from daily life.

Noa is interested in working on chapter books, picture books, and graphic novels. She loves to ground her stories in specific times and places, so historical fiction and nonfiction are always a fun challenge. She likes to focus on books with elements she was drawn to as a child–lots of detail, intricate worlds, mischievous protagonists and exploration of real life, messy emotions. She is always looking for an excuse to draw birds, wild plant life, old buildings and strange costumes.

Noa is represented by Eve Adler.
