Kirkus in a starred review said of Oliver Dominguez’s work for the acclaimed picture book Ellen Takes Flight: The Life of Astronaut Ellen Ochoa (Little Brown), “Brilliant, sure-handed gouache illustrations add even more vivid life to the well-paced text.” The book was a Junior Library Guild Selection, a Bank Street College Best Children’s Book of the Year, a Chicago Public Library Best Informational Book for Young Readers, an NSTA Best STEM Book, a CBC Children’s and Teacher Favorites List Selection, among other honors. Oliver also illustrated the Christopher Award-winning Nacho’s Nachos (Lee and Low), which received a starred review from Booklist and an NYPL “Best Book.” His other books include Miracle Mud (Millbrook), Luis Paints the World (Millbrook), Pope Francis: Builder of Bridges (Bloomsbury), and The Electrical Wizard: How Nicola Tesla Lit Up the World (Candlewick). Oliver teaches illustration at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida, where he lives with his family.
