Sirin Thada

Biography

The daughter of Thai immigrants, Sirin Thada was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, but spent school breaks visiting her parents’ homeland almost every year. She started drawing ever since she could hold a pencil, and always had her nose in a book—passions that proved very useful on those long flights to Bangkok. Eventually, she went on to get her English degree from the University of Virginia, a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University, and also became a lawyer, a fashion designer, a rock climber—and now for over a decade, a professional artist and illustrator. Her luminous, texture-rich, mixed-media work has been recognized by American Illustration and Communication Arts, and she has been commissioned to create art for hotels all over the country. She made her picture book illustration debut with The Purple One: A Story of Prince, written by Matthew Burgess (Enchanted Lion, 2024). Sirin lives in NYC with her husband (also an artist), and their endlessly entertaining rescue pup, Indie.

Sirin is represented by Stephanie Fretwell-Hill.
