Zainab Khan

Zainab Khan is the author of several picture books, including Noura’s Crescent Moon and Hana’s Hajj. She received her B.A. from Boston University and taught elementary school for several years before starting her own preschool program. A member of SCBWI, Zainab was awarded their 2020 Work-in-Progress Grant in the underrepresented category. She was also the runner up for the 2016 Sue Alexander Award, and received the 12×12 2018 Diversity scholarship.

Zainab donates part of her proceeds from her work to Givelight.org. She believes all underprivileged kids should have the chance to reach their potential regardless of where they are born in the world. She also hopes her stories will promote empathy, unity and social justice in kids of all faiths.

A woman of Pakistani heritage, she lives in Long Island, NY with her husband, two children and cat.
