Erica Silverman

Award-winning author, Erica Silverman, has written over twenty-five picture books and early readers. Her new early reader series, Lana’s World, - about a little girl with a big imagination - launched in 2015 with two books: Let’s Go Fishing! and Let’s Have a Parade! - which Kirkus review described as “a just-right book for reading fun."

Other books include: the popular Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa series, the first of which was a 2006 Theodore (Seuss) Geisel Honor Book; the picture book biography, Sholom’s Treasure: How Sholom Aleichem Became a Writer, winner of the 2006 Sydney Taylor Award and a National Jewish Book Award runner up; Big Pumpkin, a perennial Halloween favorite; Don’t Fidget a Feather, a California Young Reader Medal winner; and Hanukkah Hop, which the New York Times called a “spirited shindig…that swings”.

Erica has taught nursery school, English as a Second Language, writing, and SAT preparation. These days, when she’s not writing, she’s “librarianing” at the Los Angeles Public Library where she leads a life story writing workshop and enjoys helping readers find just the right book. She speaks at schools, libraries, and conferences on the joys and challenges of writing for children.

She is thrilled to be represented by Red Fox Literary Agency, which she imagines as a cozy den full of foxes busily writing, painting, singing, dancing and eating chocolate.

Forthcoming titles include Wake Up, City! (2016) a lyrical celebration of a city morning, and book three in the Lana’s World series, Let’s Go to the Moon (2017).
