Jan Lower

Jan Lower grew up outside Philadelphia in a house filled with books. She holds an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts, in addition to degrees in English Literature (BA, MA) and law. Her prize-winning fiction for middle grade and young adult readers has been published in Hunger Mountain Journal for the Arts and The Wax Paper Literary Magazine, and her essay on literature for adolescents was published in The ALAN Review. Jan lives in Bethesda, Maryland with her family, where she is part of the vibrant Washington, DC, children’s writing community. She writes non-fiction picture books and middle grade and YA fiction.
