Heather Ferranti Kinser

Heather Ferranti Kinser writes at the intersection of story, poetry, and nature from her home on the San Francisco Peninsula. She started writing at age nine, when she wandered to where the sidewalk ends, entered a state of literary amazement, and never fully recovered. Heather holds a BA degree in English and worked 15 years as a copy editor for engineering firms, while feeding her creativity by filling notebooks with lyrical lines. A love of rhythmic language, short literary forms, and reading with her daughters eventually led her to study the craft of writing picture books. Heather lives in the Bay Area with her family and lots of books. She is the author of the STEM-inspired titles Small Matters, Nature Is a Sculptor, and In a Cave. With her children’s writing, Heather strives to inform, delight, and shine a light. She believes in the power of picture books to spark curiosity, engage empathy, and nurture wonder.
